As some of you may or may not know. The media either hates us or loves us. I am using the royal "US" because I can. Anyway while I am away flailing in the chest deep powder I was sent some questions by a journo who wants to give us some good press. Being an ex-courier I dont feel qualified to actually answer 'some' of the questions he has asked me so please take a copy of these and answer them and email them to jonathon.rodgers@gmail.com
The questions
So, for starters lets just get yourname and age and how long you've been a
messenger?
How did you get into it?
What first appealed to you
about couriering?
For most people, Cycling
is a recreation. Why choose it for a job?
It seems like a risky
profession, what is the most dangerous part of your job?
What are the
worst injuries you've had on the job, and what are the worst injuries you've
heard about?
How do you think messengers are seen by other road users?
Do you care?
The messenger community seems very strong, why do you think
this is?
It's also international, do couriers move between cities plying
their trade?
What's the appeal of fixed speed bikes?
Someone was
telling me there's something called campag-ing, where fixie riders try and knock
other cyclists (the kind who ride Colnagos, Bianchis) off their bikes. Does this
happen often? (and if it does why?)
Fixies are also failry fashionable
at the moment, why?
Can you explain to our readers how the Courier Cup
race works, what's involved in the race? And what are the other disciplines
couriers can compete in (Like trackstand, footdown, ect)
Well that's
about it.
I do have one more favor to ask: do you have a contact for whoever's
setting the course for the CC so we can get a snapper out to take some shots?
