something for doddy

ive ranted about this before.

you could always try get in a minimum rate that a company could charge a client for a delivery. back in the day used to be 10 times the basic postal rate. what are stamps now? 50c? that'd make it 5 bucks a job at the bottom end. good for the companies, good for us, hard to avoid the charge of collusion and cartel behaviour.

or

a minimum service time. say, companies cant advertise a service time less than 45 minutes. its an oh&s issue after all. clients would book more quality work, we'd get more quality work, companies would make more money. clients would pay more, but arent they getting some stellar deals as companies undercut each other for market share?

you could have a whole lot of fun sending questionnaires around australia, battling the ACCC, the industrial relations court, the courier companies and spanking the nations' messengers out of their apathy.

im sure the rookies would thank you for your efforts as much as they thanked the longer serving messengers whose pay went down when they brought the shortfall in at the 'call. (when all the muppets did the close urgent work so their totals would be above minimum wage)

bitter is an acquired taste.

Adelaide tried something similar...

I think Shifty might remember this one better than me but i heard we had a minimum rate proposal put forward to the heads of all the companies in Adelaide about a decade or so ago. What i do know was that it was aimed at getting the companies to stop undercutting each other to get clients... As per usual the people that felt the pinch the most were the riders but they were too busy trying to deliver urgent property settlements for $0.80 in peak hour... They didn't really have time to stop.

The heads of companies met, they had a vote, about half of the companies did not want to comply (the dodgy ones).... The idea was scrapped... I still feel that if we had our act (community) together and simultaneously pushed for it from the ground up then this probably would have been achieved.

Is it what we all want tho...?

1. Lets get the nation together.
2. Lets have some fun.
3. Figure out what we want.
4. Decide if we want to do it (We'll probably be too busy travelling the world riding bikes by then).

I was just glad you didn't have time to stop at farrer cos your breath stinks. thank god for the call.

Scoots we should start filing stuff like this for future reference and for the public to see. Maybe you should edit the name of this section and give it an oh&s title or somethin? Or you could just start riling me up again.

Sweet and Sour is one of my favourite dishes... What put you off the taste of Chicken?
Flash misses you.
