Hey,
I've been in Sydney a little while now and was wondering about starting couriering, pretty comfortable with a tough bike related job as have just come from Edinburgh where I have been a pedicabber (bike taxi/rickshaws). Was just wondering if anyone could give me any tips/pointers or advice on what the craic is with starting to be a bike courier and who there is to work for, what the pays like, where there is a good bike shop I can get a suitable bike or indeed if anyone has a reasonable bike they're looking to sell.
Likewise if anyone wants to know anything about pedicabbing in Edinburgh I can give you some pointers.
Cheers
the first bike messenger I ever met was a pedicab driver down at bondi on his weekends.
dude.. read the forums about stuff... but learn the city streets by name.
men and queens all run north south.
objects and places run east west
there are exceptions to this general rule but not that many.
numbers start at the harbour.
look in the daily trash papers for whom is employing but its generally mail call and Crisis and a few others.
call them, and call them again soon after is yo get no gold.
Punch it chewy
like king st, hunter st, goulburn st, alfred st, erskine st, liverpool st, bathurst st,
or am i just holding my map up the wrong way??
winning is for losers
no your right.
but... all the streets like kent, sussex, clarence, york, pitt, Castlereagh, macquarie are all males names, then of course there is Elisabeth (the queen). These are all run Norths south
the others are places and objects, ladies and some other (no many of them) men.
Punch it chewy
how the fuck does any of that make sense?
Kent and sussex are places surely
Hunter is a guys name
king is not a king?
Hospital is also a place
u r wierd. the street names are random save for macquarie phillip bligh and hunter which all make sense together
use a a map and read them one at a time.
all the main ones running north south, then read them east west.
"do it"
and look at the over view.. not every instance.
