Sydney to Wollongong might not be the same as Paris-Brest-Paris, London-Dublin or even Sydney-Melbourne but it's got lots of lovely scenery to chew on and there are some knee popping hills for fixie riders.
Registering in advance seems the best way for me to get Louisa out of the car and on the bike - a few others have expressed interest as well - and it's always good to support the wider cyclist community.
I've registered a team on the site (http://register.gongride.org.au/?Fexengers) for messengers, fessengers, ex-engers, groupies etc -it'd be good to see some of the other Sydney messengers on the day (register before 5 October to get the cheap(ish) rate).

A 'faux' messenger ... also referred to as 'fakenger' (London, I believe) and 'poser' (everywhere else) ... Not a huge population in Sydney but they're growing. You know the type - Chrome bag still waterproof, no chips on the paintjob ...

"..why don't they dress up as milkmen?" was oft heard in the bar... i shuffled uncomfortably hoping that my big old orange ortlieb (only thing compromising my total teacher MisterJones outfit) wuldn't be construed as 'trying for street cred...
there was even a website up for 'fake' engers.......in response to the hoardes of imitators ...
or are they just 'comrade cyclists' who worship the idea of courierdom?
It makes the weekly bike polo comp's extra fun with quite a crowd of boys and girls... even some awesome jap bmx freestylers showing off...
It's a bit cultural... religeous even with the real ones as the high priests of cool

Hermes might use a taxi to the airport if he had to take more than one bike and a heap of bags...
